What Is Pure Sandalwood?
Key Differences
Red Sandalwood vs White Sandalwood:
Red sandalwood 🌿 is affordable, easily available, and has little to no aroma. It is primarily used in sandalwood powder for religious rituals and traditional medicine. In contrast, white sandalwood 🌸 is rare, expensive, and has a mild fragrance, making it ideal for use in luxury perfumes, cosmetics, and Ayurvedic products.
Heartwood vs Sapwood:
Heartwood 🌳 is darker, rarer, and more expensive, making it ideal for high-quality sandalwood powder and premium sandalwood sticks used for rubbing in religious and cosmetic purposes. Sapwood 🌱 is lighter, more abundant, and cheaper, and is generally not used in high-end religious or cosmetic products.

How We Ensure Premium Rose Water Quality
1. Quantity of Roses Used
The strength and richness of gulab jal depends on how many roses are used in distillation.
More roses = stronger aroma and concentrated essence.
For example, 80 kg roses produce a richer fragrance than 40 kg.
2. Stage of Extract
Rose water is collected in four stages: Agadi, Pichadi, Tichadi, and Chaugadi.
- Agadi – First extract, purest and most fragrant, used for premium gulab jal.
- Pichadi – Second extract, good aroma, slightly lighter.
- Tichadi – Third extract, medium aroma, lighter quality.
- Chaugadi – Fourth extract, very light aroma, mostly discarded.
Currently, on PureChandan.com, we offer only the Agadi first extract, which delivers the richest fragrance.
Pichadi is also in stock, so if you need it, please contact us directly.
3. Region of Roses
The origin of roses affects fragrance and oil content:
- Aligarh roses – Slightly superior, deeper and richer aroma.
- Kannauj roses – Classic, traditional gulab jal fragrance.
4. Copper Deg-Bhapka Method
We use the traditional copper deg-bhapka method for distillation, which is far superior to steel:
- Copper retains and enhances the natural fragrance of roses.
- It conducts heat evenly, allowing gentle, slow distillation that preserves delicate rose oils.
- Steel distillation can lose aroma and intensity due to uneven heating and reactions with metal.
Summary
The best gulab jal comes from the right quantity of roses,
first extract (Agadi), premium regions like Aligarh and Kannauj,
and traditional copper distillation. This ensures maximum fragrance, purity, and authentic quality in every bottle.
